Like icy feathers, or somesuch

Wow, we got quite a snowstorm today! Granted it was all starting to melt by the time the front pushed through around 2:00, but it was certainly fun while it lasted. Who knows what Monday and Tuesday will be like - forecast sounds like maybe more of the same?

After breakfast with friends at Leo’s place, I headed up to the College Hill Reservoir to see if the snow was any deeper up there, and it was by maybe an inch or two. I ran into a guy building an igloo for his daughters, a bunch of people sledding at 23rd and Lawrence, and some kids with a giant ‘katamari snowball.’ I eventually went home to get my snowboard, which I purchased from Lee four or five years ago and had never used. Turns out that falling is a big part of learning to snowboard, and that concrete is hard. Especially when you’re gloveless and wearing jeans. It was fun anyways, although I think the bystanders enjoyed my performance more than my knees did…

Winter seems to have finally come on in full force. What with the snow (as ephemeral as it was) a few weeks ago and the 20-degree lows of this week, it seems like we’re getting some proper weather around here. That’s something that Oregon can feel like it lacks at times. Not that I’m complaining - I love it here :)

Anyways.. Micah and I took a drive around the south side of the butte back when the snow level was temptingly close, and I did my best Dylan impression and took my camera along. My impression is of course sadly lacking, but pictures resulted none the less. I also managed to get some pics of the frost on the car this morning, half asleep as I was.

Edit: Also - Moon!

Happy 2008, everyone! 2007 brought some pretty awesome changes for us; I can’t wait to see what else life’s got in store.

A dozen or so of us llamas rang in the new year at a beach house in Lincoln City. While my camera went somewhere safe after dinner, I did have a great time taking pictures down on the beach. I even took a few shots in the dark on the night of the 30th, between waves of icy slush that turned the ground into a skating rink.
