Oh Llama, My Llama

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

Hell yeah, Llama White Elephant Gift Party! I came out of the trading with a few two-prong outlet adapters (sadly, still useful in this house) and Micah’s old water-vessel barometer, which I had been secretly coveting for years. A winner is me!

Thus begin my attempts at photographing people, historically the weak point of any amateur photographer. I need to learn to love my flash, for it does not love me.

Hay look, a picture of something that’s not a cat, dog, tree, or other domestic or domesticated object. Hopefully I’ll be able to take more and better stuff like this in the future…

Edit: I had somehow screwed up permissions on this album, so it wasn’t visible… now it’s fixed!

Blink a bright red and green

Santa brought me a fantastic haul this year - socks! books! jammies! - and since my brother is out of state doing the meet-the-parents routine with his new(ish) girlfriend, half of the gift giving has yet to occur. By far the most expensive gift came courtesy the State of Oregon, who decided that my need for a few hundred smackers was greater than the need for new textbooks, repaved roads, etc. Guilt of this sort being short-lived, I promptly got myself something I’ve been wanting for years - a digital SLR. Some of the money also went to presents for other people, fuel oil for the furnace, etc. but that’s much less fun to talk about.

Here’s hoping that your Christmas was as fantastic as ours was, and to all those that we exchanged gifts with - thank you so very much!

I leave you all with a few pictures taken with the new camera. Be kind, I’m new at this game.

Days have come and gone as they are wont to do. Important things have happened. Hopefully you were there for them; if not, I tinder our sincerest apologies! Either way, I offer up this image as our greeting for the season:
